in 2013 Antwerp was designated European Capital of Sport. On this occasion, an exhibition about Antwerp’s sport clubs was held on the promenade at the MAS: a spiral-shaped, vertical walk along 9 floors, on escalators passing by display cases. For four months we intensively visited about 40 Antwerp sports clubs that shared their stories with us. We put together an enormous archive of pictures and sports attributes, which we made into a scenic story in two parts.
For the second, textual part of the exhibition, we put together a sports paper, named De Tussenstand. In this paper we re-published old news. We thought of an appropriate plot line to arrange the old news and alternate it with new news. In collaboration with Laurens Cerulus for the texts and Marie Sledsens for the graphic design.
